The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys are an award winning country and gospel music vocal quartet that initially formed in 1943 in the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee. The group experienced their peak in popularity among southern gospel fans throughout the 1950s. As the decades changed over, so did the group’s primary focus when it came to musical style and characteristics. In the 1960s, the vocal group focused primarily on gospel music. It wasn’t until the 1970s that the outfit officially changed their name to The Oak Ridge Boys and then began to focus almost exclusively on country music. Their musical diversity has resulted in excellence and deserved recognition within several genres. The group has received dozens of awards, including two Grammys, one for Gospel and one for Country. Thanks to technology, the groups’ historic and ongoing anthology is available for digital download and for the collections of Christian music lovers around the world.
